ABSTRACT:
The purposes of this paper are to forecast the thermo-mechanical behavior in a stirring quenching process based on the metallo-thermo-mechanical theory. In order to predict influence of stirring of quenchants on temperature, phase transformation and stress quenching parts, the study followed the numerical analysis by a FEM code, HEARTS, with some experimental data of heat transfer. From simulated results of temperature, phase transformation and residual stresses as well as distortion of a quenched part, effects due to homogeneous distribution of heat transfer coefficient are presented. Some results of simulation are compared with the experimental data to verify some operating conditions in the quenching process.
